Arista Networks
Arista Networks disrupted the data centre switching market by targeting hyperscalers and financial institutions with merchant-silicon switches running EOS — an Extensible Operating System built on a Linux kernel with a fully programmable architecture. EOS exposes every forwarding state element through a centralised database (Sysdb), enabling powerful automation, telemetry streaming, and consistent APIs (eAPI, NETCONF, RESTCONF, gNMI) that Cisco and Juniper could not match with legacy architectures. CloudVision is their network-wide visibility and change management tool. Arista dominates 100G/400G switching in cloud provider and financial services data centres, and has more recently expanded into campus switching and routing to challenge Cisco's campus stronghold.
