Juniper Networks

Juniper Networks is Cisco's primary rival in high-performance routing and data-center switching, with particular dominance in service-provider edge and core environments. Their key differentiator is Junos OS — a single, consistent operating system across all hardware classes (routers, switches, firewalls) with a commit-confirm model that makes it the preferred platform for network automation engineers. The MX-Series universal edge routers are the workhorse of major carrier networks globally. Juniper's 2019 acquisition of Mist Systems — an AI-driven wireless and wired assurance platform — has repositioned them as a modern AIOps-native networking vendor. Their QFX-Series dominates 100G/400G data center switching in financial institutions and cloud-scale environments.
